My New Projects

I starters working on a crochet hook case this week. I went to visit my cousin last week and she showed me the projects she had been working on. One of them she completed was this case for crochet hooks. I loved it so she showed me where the pattern was. Mine is almost done. I'll post pictures when finished. WEE THREE FRIENDS DRESS PATTERN

Here is the picture and pattern of the dress I created for Wee Three Friends. 

WEE THREE FRIENDS DRESS

Shell st for bodice: 2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc all in same ch or space

V st at waist: dc, ch 1, dc in same st

Shell st in skirt: 3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc in V st ch

BODICE

1. Ch 27, Sc in 2 ch from hook and each chain, ch 3 turn ( counts as 1 dc for next row).

2. Dc in next 3 sc, (shell st in next sc, dc in next 3 sc, shell in next sc, dc in next 8 sc, shell in next sc, sc  in last 4 ch, ch 3 and turn. 

3. Dc in each dc, shell in corner of each shell, ch 3 and turn.

4. Dc in next 6 dc, 1 dc in ch sp of shell, skip 11 dc, dc in ch sp of shell, dc in next 16, dc in ch sp of shell, skip 11, dc in ch sp of next shell, dc in next 8 dc, ch 3 and turn. 

5. Dc in next 4 dc, 2 dc in next dc, dc in next 6 dc, 2 dc in next dc, dc in next 9, 2 dc in next dc, dc in next 6, 2 dc in next dc, dc in last 5 dc, ch 3 and turn. 

6. Dc across row, ch 3 and turn.  

7. Dc in next 4 dc, dc next 2 dc tog, *dc in next 5 dc, dc next 2 dc tog*, repeat from * to * across to end of row. Ch 3 and turn. 

8. Dc across row, ch 3 and turn. 

9. Dc across row, ch 3 and turn. 

SKIRT

10. Dc in same st as ch 3, V st in each dc across, sl st in first ch 3 at beg of row. 

11. Sl st in first V st, shell in same V st, * 1 dc in next V st, shell in next V st. Repeat from * across, dc in last V st, sl st to beg ch 3. 

12. Sl st to ch 2 of first shell, shell in each shell, dcbp in each dc between each shell 

13. Repeat row 12 until desired length. I did mine for 9 more rows. Last row I changed color of thread. Finishing: sc around each arm hole and along back opening. Sew 3 snaps evenly spaced to back opening.

Restringing Effanbee Dolls

Restringing Effanbee dolls is fairly easy. I have done a few. You can buy bands and hooks from most any doll supply or you can buy restringing cord. Here are dolls I have done before and after pictures. 

I restrung 2 of these 14" Patsy Dolls. They have their original clothes but I will sew them new outfits for display. The next one is Wee Patsy 5". I restrung her using elastic string. 

I think she is just darling. So you see restringing dolls is fun and easy. Most bands and hooks come with instructions so I won't go into details.

Effanbee Dolls

Projects I Finished

It's been a while since I posted. But I have done a lot and still working on projects. I am also in the process of creating a new crochet pattern. It's for the Wee Three Friends dolls. When it's done I will post picture with the pattern. 

I finished the quilt some time ago so l will post a picture of it. It is a queen size rag quilt I made for my granddaughter. She loves it. She pick out some of the fabric and then I just chose from my stash for the rest of it. 

I also have many other projects that I have finished over my time of not posting. One of the projects was a head wrap shower towel. Here are my granddaughters modeling them.

Working On Projects

I am happy to announce I have become a Jamberry Consultant. I love all of their nail wraps. I'm am going to try some new ones for Easter. 

I have started working on projects again. I have been crocheting Barbie outfits and I am working on a rag quilt. 

This was the start of it a few weeks back. It's almost finished now. Soon as I have it done I will post a picture of it completed.

I think it is a very pretty outfit. I'll be glad when mine is done. My Barbie will be very happy also to have a new outfit.

My Recent Projects

Hi everyone.  Sorry it's been so long since I've added anything. But life has been so crazy sometimes. I'm hoping things will be settled down a bit now. We had our grand daughter living with us and she graduated this spring. So hopefully life will get easier for us. 

One of my most recent projects is a tea cup made from old tires. Well actually my husband painted it and put it together. 

Then he filled it with dirt and I turned it into a Fairy Garden. I love it!

I am enjoying my flower bed so much this year. Here are just a few of my favorites.

New projects

I have finished the granny square afghan I was working on. So here are a few pictures of it. 

Some of my next projects are working on Christmas projects and also on my Toni, Shirley Temple and a few other dolls. I will write more about that the next time.

I have also tried some new recipes lately that have been in Facebook. One of them is Brookies. It's real easy. Get a package of brownie mix and a package of chocolate chip cookie mix. Mix each one in separate bowls according to package directions. Then you can either put in to cup cake pan or in a greased 9x13 pan. Put brownie mix in first then drop spoonfuls of cookie dough on top. Bake at 350 degrees for about 20 min. Give them a try. The are very good.

Long Time Away

Well it's been quit a while again since I was on here. I wasn't doing much but sitting in my chair playing games. I've had health problems so I was taking it easy. But I am ready to get back to it. 

  

My doll house is ready for the wiring as soon as I get all the lights. I have a few more to get. Then I can work forward on the dollhouse again. 

Right now I am crocheting granny squares for an afghan. I only have a few left to make then I can start putting it together. 

My last project was a reborn doll that

I made. 

Well I have a few other things I'm working on. So I will be back to show them another time. I also have some information for you to go with my next project.

Happy Easter

     I know it's past Easter, but I hope you all had a blessed Easter. 

    I have been selling some of my dolls lately on eBay. Trying to down size a little and also branching off into some of the vinrage dolls. Also dolls that are replicas of vintage dolls. I have gotten some Toni dolls from the 1950's and some different size Patsy dolls. So in weeks ahead I will be posting things about my new doll collecting. I have also learned to do some repair work on vintage dolls, so I will be posting about that. I am excited on getting started on my new ventures with dolls. It should be fun to make things for dolls from a different time era. I will be posting soon.

Hello Again.

Hi to my followers, if your still here. Things have been so up and down around here but I think I'm starting to get back in the swing of things. Life has thrown a lot of curves, but I just throw it right back. 

Our daughter still has problems with health and always will. We have her daughter living with us. She has grown up so fast. She's in 11th grade and has a job. Anyway enough of personal stuff. 

I have some projects lined up. Doll house kind of got put on a back burner, but I did work on some of the dolls. I will post pictures later. Wiring will be the next step for the doll house. 

Hopefully I will be doing more crafting and posting this year.

All About Posting

I thank all of my followers. I am slow anymore with posting. But that is due to my illnesses. But I hope to take care of some of that on the 26th of this month. I have an appointment with a cardiologist then. Hoping and praying for good news. This week I am hoping to post pictures of my dollhouse and dolls as far as it has progressed. I am pleased with it so far. Next step is the wiring and putting on the additions. I'm looking forward to working on it again. So hopefully with God's help the Dr.'s will help me.

I am sorry it has been so  long since my last post.  I am still battling illness, but do feel better some of the time. I do plan on doing some projects this year. So I will be posting what I'm doing from time to time. I don't get a lot of time for projects between Dr. appointments for me and my daughter. My daughter has Dystonia and has seizures so I spend a lot of time with her lately. But I am praying for a better year in 2013 for all of us.
 

The first of my projects for this year is building a dollhouse from a kit. Then I will be making furnishings and clothes for the dolls. The dollhouse I have chosen is "Willow" by Corona Concepts. It is a 3 story colonial house. I also plan on adding a basement underneath it once it is put together.  I purchased some people but still have more to get. I am planing on having parents, grandparents, 5 children, maid, cook and butler. So I should be busy for some time. To start with here are some pictures of what the house is to look like when done. And a few dolls I have gotten. I will be making the clothes for the dolls and sharing what I'm doing as it progresses.

To my followers, I apologize. I am still battling my illness so I have not been posting much. Trying to keep up with most things is keeping me busy, and then I'm tired so I nap. I hope to do some posting real soon. I have some projects lined up, just to be able to get to them is the next thing. Also I am thinning out my doll collection which takes some time away from crafting. because I choose which dolls go and then get them ready for selling. Just Checking In

I have been hoping to post some but as usual I have been sick again. I have no immune system so I seem to catch all kind of things. I'm beginning to think I should live in a bubble. I have completed some new projects, as my body will allow. I do a little in the morning and then sleeping the afternoon. My Latest Projects

Happy St. Patricks Day! Are You Irish?

    Well I said I would be back this week to post so here I am.  Can you believe it is the middle of March already. Where does time go? And we have beautiful weather for this time of year.  It was 76° yesterday and so far 63° today.

     In between running to doctors and hospital I have been busy with projects. To start with I got a new doll and made her a new dress. The doll is a 18 inch Friends Boutique by Madame Alexander. So she has been added to the collection of dolls. Sometime I will have to post pictures of my doll collection. But that is for another day.

     Then the next doll is the last one of my reborn dolls that I have finished. I gave a talk to the local Women's Club about Reborn Dolls and she was one of my examples to show.  The ladies all liked her and the other dolls that I took to show. I was told that they all liked my talk about reborning. That is only my second time for public speaking so I was a little nervous. But it went very well. It's pretty easy when you have a good audience.

     Next up is one of my latest projects that I love doing. My Hubby bought me a new Baby Lock Esante Embroidery machine. I also got a new HP laptop and an Explorations software for making and editing  embroidery designs. Then I connect the laptop to the machine via USB and transfer the design to the machine. Then the machine does the embroidery. The picture above is two Beagles I embroidered on a sweatshirt. the bottom is the finished picture. For my first project I thought it turned out ok.

     This the machine and laptop with the program showing. I have a few new things to talk about and some information on them that I will be sharing with you soon.

I realize I haven't posted much lately but there has been a lot going on in my life. I have had health problems and my daughter has had health problems. But I will be doing some posting this week now with the Lord willing. So I will catch up with you later. May God bless. Hugs DeeDee.

Moses Basket Liner

I have made a liner for my Moses basket and I am going to explain how easy it is to do. I had 1 1/2 yd. fabric but did not use it all. Items you will need are:
sewing machine
newspaper
scissors
pins
fabric for front
fabric for back
quilt batting
bias tape
ribbon

First set your basket on the newspaper and trace around the bottom. Then lay basket on its side and trace the shape. Make your patter so it reaches fro middle of one end to the middle of the other end. Mine I didn't so I just added the inches when I cut out the fabric.

Next pin your newspaper pattern on your fabric and cut it out leaving room for seam allowances. Do the same with the batting and the backing fabric.

Now sew the ends closed for the sides of each piece.set in basket and make sure it fits. Next put the 3 layers together, front fabric, batting and back fabric. Now pin the top edge all the way around. Next put in on the sewing machine and with large stitches baste around the top edge.

Now we are going to pin the 3 bottom layers together and then baste them on the sewing machine.

Next we will pin the bottom to the sides.If the basket is larger at the top than the bottom you will want extra room on the sides for a few tucks or darts.

I have a serger so I sewed it on that but it can be sewn on any machine.

Next place the liner in the basket to measure for fit again. Then take out of basket and trim any batting that nay be sticking up past the liner on the top edge.  Now we are going to pin our bias tape around the top edge starting at the foot.  I have chosen a wide bias but you can use what you like. When you get back to the foot with the bias tape cut it leaving about an extra inch and fold that under for a smooth finish.
Next sew your bias in place.

Now put the liner in the basket and mark with pins where you want to put your ribbon ties to secure it to the basket.  I cut 6 - 18 inch lengths of ribbon for my ties. then sewed them down on the outside fabric (backing fabric).Place it in the basket and you have a Moses basket ready for a baby or a doll. Which in my case will be a doll as I collect dolls.
